VAMA to hold ecumenical Thanksgiving Service
The Vinton Area Ministerial Association (VAMA) will hold its ecumenical Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, November 23 at 7 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Vinton, located at 608 1st Ave.
The service will include scripture readings and short lessons from various area clergy, as well as music by the Presbyterian Church Adult Choir and Adult Hand Bell Choir.

Vinton Garden Club News
The Vinton Garden Club member of National Garden Clubs, Inc., District II, and Central Region met at 8:00 am, September 24, 2014, at the Benton County Conservation Center with Fran Stueck as hostess. Fran fixed a wonderful breakfast for us. After breakfast we had our program on “Migration of the Monarch Butterfly” by Karen Phelps, Benton County Naturalist.

Benton Co. Cattlemen plan annual Banquet, Nov. 15
The Benton County Cattlemen will hold their annual banquet Saturday, November 15 at Turner Hall in Keystone. Social is at 5:30 pm and Meal is at 6:00 pm. Cost is $20. Turner Hall will be catering the meal and there will also be a pie auction.

Lighted Holiday Parade, Lions Chili Supper set for Nov. 20
The annual events that have become November traditions for Vinton return next Thursday, Nov. 20.
The 5th Annual Veterans Patriotic Christmas Parade begins at 6 p.m. that evening.
All local residents, businesses, organization and churches are invited to join the event.
Line-up begins at 5:30 p.m. east and south of Wesley United Methodist Church at the intersection of 6th Street and 2nd Ave.
Chili Supper to help send Veterans To Washington D.C.
There will be a Chili Supper to help raise funds to send area Veterans to Washington D.C. for the tour of a lifetime.
The supper will be held on Thursday, November 20th,from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Vinton Fire Station. The Vinton Lions Club will be serving and donations will be collected.

Soup supper at Shellsburg Presbyterian, Nov. 9
The Shellsburg Presbyterian Soup Supper will take place Sunday, November 9, from 4:30-7:00 PM.
Cost:Adults-$8.00, Youth and Children-$4.00, Preschool-Free
Serving soup, cinnamon rolls, salads, pie, and other desserts.
2nd Annual Viking Alumni Basketball Tourney set for Dec. 20
2nd Annual Viking Mens Alumni Basketball Tournament is Dec 20 starting at 10:00. Get in shape to beat last years winner, Class of 2007, captained by Matt Sima and Ross Timmermans. Teams need to be registered by Dec 5. First come first choice on t-shirt color!
